I totally agree that their approach to peyton no show at the wedding was one of their worst writing. No meter how the things between them and the actress they shouldn`t carry weight on the character. It looked very much out of character, maybe it normal while they teenagers it look fake in adulthood.
Some short letter and natural disaster like Vulcan eruption in New Zealand (visiting Andy) could serve them much better.

Hi, sorry I am a bit behind with your podcast’s. I am all the way in South Africa and just discovered it recently.

I am listening to the podcast about season 8 when Haley’s baby was born, and you where not sure about who the godmother is for Lydia? It is Quinn. Haley asked an unconscious Quinn when she was in the hospital after the shooting.

By the way, I love your podcast. Since stumbled upon it, I have been listening NON STOP! I love hearing other peoples opinions.

I enjoyed the finale fine but it had way too much focus on Mouth Millie Chase Chuck etc. Season 4 is still my fave as a series ender and I dont think they can top it. I did love the last shot with Jamie though!

Good podcast. Just to answer your questions, Julian’s movie that Brooke was reading the reviews from was “Seven Dreams ’til Tuesday” from season seven, not his documentary. I actually loved that scene when he thought it would have failed and it ended up a nice review. Also about Lauren’s text, Chuck said to Jamie that he STOLE his mother’s phone. Lauren did not send the text to Chuck. Of the silly things OTH has done, I don’t think they would’ve done that! lol. I enjoyed the finale. I do wish we had more Dan /Paul though, he’s one of my favorite characters. I did like your idea of the ending with Jamie on the bridge and having it fade back and forth with an image of Lucas, then Jamie, etc. That would have been nice. I think it would be nice to have Lucas and Peyton back just for the series finale and I like your idea about a flash forward with all the generations together at Karen’s Cafe.

First of all, I enjoyed the podcast as well as the episode. I don’t know if I can really call them flashbacks, since they were new scenes, but whatever, not important. The setup of the episode reminded me of the season one finale with the basketball game and the “flashback” scenes dealing with Lucas leaving with Keith, Dan and Deb with their divorce, Keith/Karen and Brooke and Peyton’s plan for Nikki. Anyway, I enjoyed the episode, love that Brooke and Julian are pregnant, etc. I do VERY much agree with what you said about Nathan talking about Dan. I loved that and I think that is my favorite part and I’m glad that they are still touching up on that. I have heard that Paul Johansson is in the finale, so I believe we will see Nathan go see Dan. I’m looking forward to that! My opinion on season nine, I don’t support it and I’m not against it. What I think they should do is have a two hour movie to be a REAL series finale. They could have old and the new characters in it, and it would be great to have Chad and Hilarie as well. Just everyone together to say goodbye INSTEAD of an extra season. OTH should go out in style. Sorry for the lengthy comment!

I have to agree with the other two reviewers. In 6×02 Haley said that same thing to Jamie when he was jumping on the bed about if he breaks the box spring he has to sleep on the floor. So I really don’t consider it as a line “stolen” from Leyton. Also, I have been listening to these podcasts since the beginning and really do enjoy them. However, I understand that you don’t like Brooke, but as a listener it would be nice for you to not just complain about her in every pod cast. Her story line right now is pretty much the meat of the show. I also think the writers probably had a difficult time spacing out this season because they didn’t know about the back 9. Lastly, I do agree there has been a major lack of drama this season. However, as much as I loved S1-S6 some of the story lines were a little exaggerated. So to me, I like this everyday life thing they have going on.

I’m with @haley. Nice episode of girl and guy time separately. It’s the last season, so why not make it happy and fun! Didn’t we have enough the past seven years. Also Haley say that to Jamie, OTH is known for its throwbacks. They did that with certain lines in the 1940′s episode and that script was written by Chad Michael Murray, so I don’t think he thinks it’s stealing lines. One Tree Hill should end with everybody happy, it did for Lucas and Peyton.

So why have a podcast when its all negative. I mean this is my first time hearing this persons podcast and i already HATE it.

Theres nothing wrong with the line about jumping on the bed. Haley did say it to Jamie in the same episode. I loved hearing that line coming from Julian. Its not “stealing”. How many times have you quoted something someone has said or used a common catch phrase? hmmm…..

Nathan did play baseball. Watch the episode in season one where Nathan and Lucas get kicked off the bus. They are sitting and waiting and Nathan tells Lucas a story about Dan kicking Nathan after a pitch. Dan coached Nathans team, so for Nathan to coach Jamie’s… It just shows how much of a better dad he will ever be than what Dan was.

Chuck is the best friend. Remember Tim? Its the second generation of Tim. You need that friend in there. Brooke was brought into be that kind of person in season one, and now we cant imagine the show without her.

The deal with the “Nathan 2.0″ is that Nathan sees the reason to sign him because they both have ass hats for dads. And it allows Nathan to really have this one on his own. Kind of a way to conquer the wrath from his professor.

I’m so happy that the girl chose Brooke and Julian. They both know what its like to make mistakes and thats how Chloe sees her situation.

Why do we need psychos in the story line to make drama? Apparently your not a real one tree hill fan.

i actually enjoyed quinn’s humor in this ep and what promos ive seen for the next episode too. but the wierd flashback was random

i thought it was a good episode. hormonalhaley was entertaining and we got a little more naley at the end than usual, i have a feeling we will hate ian for a reason…, and i died laughing when the pizza guy was into a threesome with brulian its amazing how you guys pick out the 2.0s, you find them everywhere and i dont see many of them before i listen to this podcast.

i have to say, sophia bush should really not want to leave the show since then she and austin could be separated since he’s from texas/la and theyd both be off doing different things and not together! but i guess if they were both in LA it would be okay. and if the series finale for the show was the brulian wedding, they would have had to focus more on ending each character rather than focusing on the married couple. it wouldnt have been fair to do huge naley weddings and a huge leyton wedding, and then screw brooke over. brooke deserved her moment and the couple deserved it. i actually thought the wedding ep was adorable, but then again, i ALWAYS thing brulian is adorable and i really dont like how everyone says leyton WAS the show when they chose to leave, i know there is a spot where they’re missing now but its like everyones disregarded how important naley and brooke always have been and still are. leyton was never the whole show. I agree with @alex who commented on no.133 before: haters should stop watching if they hate it so much

and just so you know.. the blonde girl ‘interviewing’ brulian in the promo, she’s pregnant so she’s not observing them like brooke did before in season 5. this is the birth mother interviewing them to see if she wants to GIVE brooke&julian the baby. cant wait. they better not tease us with this adoption and then take it away from them! i’d cry

I know you all want it to end, but OTH is my release. its what i look forward to it EVERY week, it makes my week so much better, regardless of the content of the show. it makes me laugh, cry, squeal with glee, text back and forth with my best friends who watch because i got them hooked, and all that. it makes me so happy. and therefore, I’d rather have it always “just being there” like denise said, than not having it there at all.

I didn’t think this was the best episode ever. A wedding episode is just another wedding episode after a certain point. The same notes are hit every time, and this didn’t disappoint. It had to be done, obviously, but wedding episodes are always a little boring and cheesy for me. There were a few bright notes…and I thought the little competition between Haley and Jamie was cute. Skills was a little over the top…he could have left out the interruption in the middle of their ceremony (Kanye anyone?).

Completely agree about the Chase/Mia thing…first of all, it came out of nowhere (besides Alex foreshadowing it) and it was completely disrespectful. You would think Mr. “Clean Teen” would be a little nicer to Brooke. And did it have to be Brulian’s wedding limo…really? Nobody gives a rat’s rear end about those two. Make Mia go back on tour for goodness sake’s. They can bring someone else in to run Red Bedroom…maybe it could be a better storyline than Miranda. And get Chase out to find a real job. He is turning into the next Skills.

Also, Alex and Quinn? Wtf? Quit forcing people to have storylines…and the whole Katie thing was just dumb. Quinn be freaked out about Katie will never beat Peyton’s fear of Derek. The aftermath from Derek was WAAAY better than Katie. Katie didn’t even really have a reason behind her obsession, besides the fact that she “loved” Clay. I think they missed the boat on an opportunity to break those two up. But we know that isn’t going to happen. Make them have a real fight at least. Something. Whatever, I don’t even care about anyone beyond the Scott’s and Baker’s. (Did anyone else think Brooke Baker sounds a little funny though?)

Overall decent episode. I could have just watched the parts with the core group, and done without the rest…but what is done is done. Glad they didn’t have Haley go into premature labor or something else equally as dramatic during the eppy. Certain things could have been better, but other’s could have been worse…so I won’t complain anymore.

Oh, and I love that they used the song “Marry Me” by Train. SO perfect!

I understand the whole Brooke-Peyton friendship is a big deal, but the truth is people do grow apart. I can relate to this storyline because that is exactly how my friendship with my high school bff turned out. Not to throw this quote in anyone’s face but “people always leave”. And I think Brooke was right with what she said about Peyton. Brooke NEVER left. Yet, Peyton claimed that everyone did. I know that Peyton was mostly talking about parents and boyfriends…but she even acted this way about Haley when she went on tour…and yet, she didn’t fully appreciate or at least really acknowledge that Brooke was there for her. And that hurts after a while. My bff went off to college and constantly told me she never wanted to come home b/c everyone there sucked…well, that hurt me a bit too, even if she didn’t mean that when she said it. And I think Brooke felt the same way.
As time goes on, new people become your core, and Haley has been growing into the role of Brooke’s for a while now. Hate me for saying all of this, but life goes on. Nobody can sit and hang around for their past to catch up. Especially when the other person doesn’t make the effort to be there.

Also, I think Sylvia made that comment to maybe try to relate to Brooke a little (even if it was poor form). She probably figured that Brooke was mad at Peyton for not being able to come, so if she dissed her she could get back into Brooke’s good graces. Not the best way to do that, but nobody said Sylvia was the brightest bulb.

i agree about haley’s speech being less than what brooke deserved. haley should have talked about how she told brooke to focus on her work way back when and how she told her this season to focus on the boy she loved and who adored her. AND i totally thought nathan should have danced with brooke! he’s like an older brother to her and they had similar backgrounds like he told her before quentins funeral.

and when i heard brooke say ‘im gunna cry/ ruin makeup’ whatever and i immediately thought of 2.0 but then again, if brooke cries at everybody elses wedding/ everbody elses drama, shes obviously gunna cry at her own wedding. so although it was 2.0, it had to be said

besides that.. i agree with selena: top 3. Ive waited 8 years for this wedding. bigbigbigbigbig Brooke fan from the day i started watching. brulian belong together yay Mrs. Baker and Mr. Davis!!!

although if they DID have this be the last ep, it wouldnt have been SO focused on brooke and julian and it would have had to have more naley&jamie, quinn/clay, mouth/millie and every other significant coupling/friendship. so im glad it wasnt the untimate last episode.

but that being said, side note: i could watch OTH forever, no matter how cheesy. even next week which looks odd… as denise said ‘joke like’, becuase i love the scott & baker families SO SO much. its an obsession, i’ll need rehab to get over my OTH withdrawals when its over

I have to disagree with the whole controversial Peyton “diss.”

First of all, I imagine Sylvia didn’t like ANY of Julian’s girlfriends, so it’s not like she singled out Peyton. The same episode she called Brooke selfish, a brat, told her she wouldn’t let her son marry her and taunted her about her infertility. So I don’t see that as a big deal.

Secondly, Peyton wasn’t going to be there because Hilarie wouldn’t come. Y’all think the writers were disrespectful because Peyton was shown to let Brooke down in this way?
A: It was a LOT more disrespectful to Brooke & BL fans when
BL’s relationship, despite all the “I’m the guy for you, Brooke Davis” and “I love you too Pretty Girl” and “If you need to hear why I love you, I can go on all night” was suddenly a footnote to the great epic LP.
B: Peyton has done much worse to Brooke than have a sick kid get in the way of her BFF’s wedding
C: While I agree that they could’ve just had Lucas and Peyton snowed in somewhere, thereby missing the wedding, then they couldn’t have had the moment where Brooke realizes that the reality is she has a NEW best friend. Doesn’t mean she doesn’t still love Peyton, she said she missed her and understood. But it gives Haley the props for BEING THERE for Brooke, something, really, Peyton ever was. And the reality of Peyton not being in
Tree Hill can be traced to Hilarie. So, her character’s not sacred, they didn’t have her run off with the handyman or anything, they just had her everyday life interfere with her old life, and her old friend.

As soon as I heard Sylvia say she didn’t like Peyton anyway I thought Denise is going to go ballistic at this. It did seem petty that a recently introduced scene sucking secondary character could deliver this line and diss a former core character. It was quite frankly disrespectful to Peyton fans. Also disappointing that Brooke didn’t stand up and defend her BFF as we all know that Brooke is fiercely loyal to her friends and this what it would be in her character to do. Shoddy writing.

You know that I 100% agree with you about Peyton coming to wedding. I am a little more upset with Hilarie than the folks at OTH. From everything that I read, it was her decision not to come back. She said she had too much going on with the new baby and show. Which I think is crap considering OTH and the fans made he current career.

As for this weeks episode, I just plain loved it. There were so many hilarious moments.

Denise, I agree with you. I think it really seemed like the writers have a problem with Peyton’s character and that’s sad. You’re right it does appear that the writers can’t seem to separate their feelings for the actress with the character. I personally don’t enjoy the show at all like I use to, because it’s just not the same with out the five original cast members. I still wish they had ended it at the end of season six and then maybe they could have done a spin off show or something.

wow. didnt expect the swearing lol but i do think those things were dumb.. i would be crying if i was brooke and peyton wasnt coming after EVERYTHING theyve done for each other and personally i think brooke did a lot more for peyton and deserves every single person to be behind her on her wedding day, even lucas and peyton. they made it seem like peyton&brooke didnt care if they saw each other…and that email/letter thing would be the only thing that would work since hilarie&chad wouldnt come back for whatever reason (even just to do a skype video or voicemail). i do feel bad for haley tho because no matter what shes ever done, shes never peyton or brooke’s best friend. ever. so she deserves so recognition for always being there when needed.

i hope this doesnt ruin the rest of the season for you. if necessary, just pretend ‘baby sawyer’ was deathly ill..

Funny episode, not having major drama was nice. I get what you’re saying about Peyton. I do love Leyton and it would of been great to have them back. I did read an interview about Hilarie saying she would not be back, which was disappointing. I just wonder why she couldn’t make the time for one episode. OTH made her the actress she is today. Anyway, yes they could of handled the situation better. A phone call from Peyton would be nice or even Brooke talking to Peyton on a webcam, I wonder if Hilarie would of done that. Getting back to the episode, I like this potential friendship of Alex and Quinn. They both need a girlfriend so they’re not so drawn to their men all the time!

I agree, we had all of those letters Haley was writing to Lucas at the start of the season. It wouldn’t have been hard for a voice clip to be produced. The writers have let the show down, big time!

Great podcast. I agree this season has been very flat with not much happening. It had promise with the COB arc but it ended quickly and not much has happened with it since. I’m hoping the person who hit the car and knocked it into the river and then took off will become an arc. Maybe Brooke sues and gets her money back and buys COB back? I dunno. Hoping the hit and run isnt completely ignored anyways.

About Leyton though, as much as I want them back for one episode at least (well Peyton, Lucas ehhh haha), they won’t be there for the wedding and Hilarie wont come back at all. That isnt the writers fault though so I really dont think you should be getting all riled up about what excuse they use for them not being there at the wedding. They couldnt schedule it to come back. Thats their problem not the writers. I hope they just dont mention it all together. They are gone and couldnt come back so it just shouldnt be mentioned.

i LOVED THIS EPISODE! love nathan’s dan moment, but i have to say, haley and nathan looked dumb standing there not helping when brooke was DYING! Julian was awesome! I loved JULIAN saving Brooke and Jamie. i was almost crying when brooke told julian to save jamie. i thought there was gunna be some electricution that caused brooke to be unconscious, not her and jamie almost drowning! and quinn/katie was pointless but at least it was a tad entertaining for once.

selena definaltey nailed it all the way through: brooke stole the show hands down, i actually liked peyton when she was with jake, i hate that they just dropped sam off the map, and i would have been SO HAPPY with a whole hour of Brooke and Julian, i’d always be happy with that. I can’t wait for jan 25, since im having desperate OTH withdrawal.

i heard that sophia bush has said lucas and peyton arent coming back for the wedding. they tried but chad and hilarie couldnt ‘schedule’ it, which means they probly didnt want to come back. so we cant control the actors since theyre the ones who left in the first place and neither can mark, even if we all want them to. as much as we’d all like to see sawyer, i dont think they ever will come back

and finally, here hoping for a perfect ‘hangover’ bachelorette party with all the girls being hilarious, an amazing fairytale brooke wedding, brulian adoption/pregnancy, and an adorable naley baby that jamie hates cause its a girl lol

Awesome episode and podcast review guys. Selena I love your comments about Brooke because she has been my favorite character since day 1 and if it was not for her I would not have stuck around this long. I agree that no one but Sophia Bush could play this part. I was always a Brucas fan too so I can sympathize with your pain of them not together.

First off I gotta say I enjoyed this episode….one of the best in past 2 seasons…tied with Dont You Forget About Me and I and Love and You for sure.

Second, while I do agree OTH copied your idea about the hurricane (though glad it was called a storm and not a hurricane since it is not hurrican season), I don’t think they copied you by doing what they were thankful for at Thanksgiving. Thats a household tradition in many houses which is probably why they did it.

Third, I get that you want Peyton at the wedding, so do I. But she won’t be there. And while it sucks that Brookes best friend wont be there, it wouldnt be fair to not show the wedding just cuz she cant be there. Leyton and Naley fans got to see their weddings, its only right Brooke fans see hers.

Fourth, you keep saying when you bash characters you arent bashing the actors which normally I get. However you repeatedly call Lindsay “Man Face.” I get its a quote from the show but using it IS bashing Michaela McManus.

Agreed Denise. When watching this I wondered how Dan became such an expert on murder and how to cut up bodies and bury them. Seemed ridiculous. Season 8 is definitely becoming a mellow soap opera. People doing boring everyday things with storylines going nowhere. Have to bring back Taylor again to save it.

good podcast although i would have LOVED to hear from someone who loves brook and julian as much as I do.. since we don’t get to hear that often. next week looks epic! can’t wait, although i could care less about the katie/quinn parts… i’m just looking forward to the brulian and jamie storylines.

Good podcast. I liked this episode, it was great to see Paul Johansson again and hopefully we see him in the finale. It was unexpected to see Quinn go to Dan for help, although I think that the lists and plans for murder was only a sneaky way for that Dan to try to scare Quinn with all the gory details. His last converstion with her became very serious on how isolated he is from his family and then he told her not to do it. I though the set up for that was clever. Brooke and Julian were cute together and Nathan going to school to finish his degree is a good storyline. It opens up new ideas for his character. Overall, great episode and seeing Paul Johansson again does bring that old spark back. It would be great to her an interview with him by you sometime in the future.

I have been listening to the podcast for a while now, and the funny thing is I am only commenting now because I love the castle references so much! I recently got into castle as well, and I completely agree with you Denise, Beckett and Castle need to come to Tree Hill and solve this Katie mystery! And maybe the one about the missing story arcs as well. I had to laugh at Kaitlyn’s schizo comment about Erin, because that thought totally crossed my mind as well (although I really hope it doesn’t; no more psychos!) I really got a kick out of Kaitlyn’s word choices too (I giggled for a good minute at the “Katie came in and mowed them down” line).
Going back to the poker episode and your comments about Julian: I completely forgot about him being Mr. Smooth in season 6, and it seems the writers have as well. While I do find the dweeb-version of Julian hilarious, it doesn’t seem plausible in hindsight that his character would back-track so much. Even last season has a bit of a continuity problem with Julian as well: there is no way that Julian would be that bad of a negotiator for his movie deal after we saw the way he smooth-talked Lucas about the movie in season 6. Granted Julian definitely had much more invested in his second go at the movie thing, but he still shouldn’t have needed daddy there to make sure he made a good deal, IMO. Overall, good thoughts as always! Oh, and the second season hypothesis definitely doesn’t apply to castle!!

Agree with you guys that there should be something big going on by now…but Denise I think you were right…since they only had 13 episodes I bet they were hesitant to start something big and have to wrap it up so quick. Hopefully something big happens soon.

As for the second season thing mention by Kaitlin….I disagree.

Vampire Diaries – Season 2 is kicking ass right now.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer – Many fans think season 2 was the best of the whole series. Angel’s wasn’t bad either.

Oh I agree the whole “lets have a concert” Mia thing was very “contrived” but I though carrying over Haley giving advice or help to Cate, was a nice touch.
There should be no reason why OTH should end without a return on Lucus and Peyton. I think it’s very simple.
You guys have me cracking up throughout the podcast. About Life Unexpected – I do very much agree with you Stephanie. I’m a Cate and Baze fan too. I like Ryan…but yeah it should be Cate and Baze…ok ok I’ll stop this is the OTH podcast.
Denise having respect for Brooke! “I like Brooke Davis” This must be what we are shocked to hear you say…I know I have respect for her. Standing up to her mom and doing the right thing for her investors…she’s a good person after-all – I think Peyton always knew she was this person.

I thought this episode was pretty good. It was a little heartbreaking to watch Brooke and Nate give up their dreams. I did think that Mia and the voodoo doll was freaking hilarious! I do have a few problems with this season so far. Is it weird to anyone else that there has been no mention of “Katie”- the crazy chick that shot Quinn and Clay. What about the investigation? What ever happen to Julian’s movie? Was it successful? It’s a little strange to me that he already making another movie. Oh and I agree with you Denise, Peyton and Lucas will always be the primary couple on OTH.

Maybe im the only one but i think that, well this letters is Mark making it open, like if they come back they know what is happening in tree hill but not that in the time that the episodes were scripted he knows that they would be back i think that he is make it open whitout knowing if they are coming back or not.But whit this news that Chad will be filming a new movie in November , dosent looke like they will be back,like i wish that they would coming back to see Peyton,Lucas and Sawyer again but i dont think that they will coming back again sorry for my english

Mason, that is a good question. I am assuming if Brooke sells her company there will be some restructure and some of the higher ups may loose their jobs, but the mid-level workers might be okay.
