Amanda Schull Guest on OTH Podcast Feb. 23

Amanda Schull will be a guest on the One Tree Hill Podcast on February 23 to talk about her return to One Tree Hill.

Schull took on the role of Sara, Clay’s ill-fated wife in a handful of episodes prior to her return this February. Schull will be playing tennis star Katie Ryan, who bears a striking resemblance to Clay’s, played by Robert Buckley, late wife.

“I am so excited to be back on One Tree Hill,” Schull admitted. “I talked to the writers in November about this character, and I like there is a bit of mystery about her.”

Schull struck a cord with the One Tree Hill fan base in the fall when she hit the screen as Sara. So much so, the One Tree Hill producers found a way to bring her back on the show.

“I’ve never had a response like I have with One Tree Hill, it was really heart-warming,” Schull said. “I know how dedicated the fans are to the show and to the and for them to welcome and appreciate Sara, sort of a newbie, when they are so loyal to the series regulars, it was really generous. I really felt strongly about her and our storyline, and the way that people responded to her and our storyline, was just icing on the cake.”

The podcast will also have a clip from One Tree Hill writer Terrence Coli about the writer’s task of creating the new character of Katie Ryan for Schull.

The February 22 episode of One Tree Hill is a pivotal episode, not only for its dramatic overtones, but also for the show’s fate. The One Tree Hill Twitter site, www.twitter.com/realonetreehill, has posted numerous tweets about the importance of viewership numbers as the show’s eighth season is in doubt, after not receiving an early pick-up by The CW.

Bess Armstrong Interview on Feb. 9 OTH Podcast

The One Tree Hill Podcast will air an exclusive interview with Bess Armstrong on February 9 as she talks about reprising her role of Lydia James.

Armstrong originated the role of Lydia, on One Tree Hill, in two episodes of season two. She along with Huey Lewis, who played Haley’s father Jim James, were brought into the storyline when two characters dealt with their daughter, Haley’s marriage to Nathan.

“I loved this character,” Armstrong admits. “She is such a wonderfully rich and interestingly drawn character, kind of fun and artsy and full of life.”

After Armstrong’s character fulfilled her purpose of giving Haley’s character permission to marry, she thought the storyline was over. However, five years later, Lydia James is back and there are a few changes.

“Imagine my surprise, when I left the I had one daughter on the show, when I came back I had three,” Armstrong joked. “It is so exciting to be back on, I have enjoyed my time.”

One Tree Hill Writer Terrence Coli Talks About Penning 80’s Themed Episode on Feb. 2 Podcast

On February 2, the One Tree Hill Podcast will have an exclusive interview with One Tree Hill writer Terrence Coli about penning the February 1 episode “Don’t You Forget About Me.” The episode is an 1980’s themed episode, that is also a tribute to the late writer/director John Hughes.

The title of the episode, “Don’t You Forget About Me,” comes from the Simple Minds song that was made famous in Hughes’ quintessential 80’s movie “The Breakfast Club.” It is just one of many Hughes references and movies peppered through the episode.

Coli got the idea for the episode after the passing of Hughes in August of 2009. The whole One Tree Hill writing staff was affected by Hughes’ passing and was huge fans of him.

“Growing up in the 80’s, as I did, with these seminal classics of my youth, like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Some Kind of Wonderful, all of those movies have such an influence on all of us here on the writing staff,” Coli said. “Most of us didn’t know Hughes, but those of us who grew up with those movies, knew how much they and he meant to us and never forgot it.”

Coli then decided when it was his turn to write his next episode, he wanted to pitch an 80’s themed episode and passed it by One Tree Hill writer Bill Brown, who worked with Hughes on films like “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ and “Plane’s Trains and Automobiles.”

“When I started thinking about this next episode, I would write, I thought wouldn’t it be cool to pay tribute to John Hughes,” Coli said. “The first thing I did was go to Bill and ask him if this is crazy, as a guy who knew John.”

Brown told Coli it was a great idea. Coli took the idea to One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn, who told him to go for it.

It evolved to the episode airing on Feb. 1. Many of the storylines of the One Tree Hill episode are taken from Hughes films. In the One Tree Hill Podcast, Coli goes through the different Hughes’ movies and which ones go with what each One Tree Hill character is going through.

The One Tree Hill Podcast will also have an exclusive interview with Rick Nielsen, from the band Cheap Trick, who had an on-camera performance in the episode. The band performs at the 80’s themed dance in the episode. The band performed “Smile” (from their new album The Latest), “Surrender,” and “I Want You to Want Me.”

Holroyd talks about why he was excited to return to the role of David and getting a chance to work on One Tree Hill with his wife, Allison Munn (who plays the role of Lauren).

The podcast also includes an “Artist Alley” interview with Matthew Pelham from the band The Features. Their song “Off Track” was featured on the Jan. 25 episode.

Joe Manganiello talks One Tree Hill and True Blood on Podcast January 11

It is safe to say 2010 might just be the year of Joe Manganiello. Not only is he reprising his role as the bartender Owen on One Tree Hill, set to air in February, he also garnered the coveted role of Alcide the werewolf on season three of HBO’s hit series True Blood.

Manganiello is currently in Wilmington filming for One Tree Hill and then will head back to Los Angeles to begin filming True Blood in late January. He paused from his busy schedule to visit the One Tree Hill Podcast to share his news about returning to One Tree Hill and True Blood. He even gave a preview of his Mississippi accent he is trying to perfect for True Blood.

The true-love tale of Boyfriend and Girlfriend stars Hilarie Burton, co-owner of Southern Gothic Productions, and One Tree Hill’s Austin Nichols. The short film is narrated by Cullen Moss and was written and directed by Nicholas Gray. The film’s score is by Andy Bilinski, a musician residing in Wilmington.

“We had a ball doing this,” Nichols said. “There isn’t any dialogue, the whole thing is narrated, and the short looks great.”

Sophia Bush Exclusive Interview Begins Airing December 14

The One Tree Hill podcast will begin airing an exclusive interview with Sophia Bush, who plays Brooke Davis, on December 14.

Bush has been with One Tree Hill since the second episode of season one. She has seen many changes to the show filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina and admits the experiences have been some of the best of her life.

“I grew up on this show,” she exclaims with her infectious laughter. “I have made some of the best decisions of my life here, and also some of my worst.”

Bush shares her experiences in her directorial debut earlier in season seven and how much she enjoyed it. She also said she believes her Brooke Davis character has seen the most growth in the show and believes someday Brooke will be able to find true happiness.

Austin Nichols Exclusive Interview Begins Airing December 8

The One Tree Hill Podcast has two special announcements. First, the site is excited to bring an exclusive interview with One Tree Hill star Austin Nichols, who plays Julian Baker, for the December 8 episode. Also, One Tree Hill’s official website, www.OTHpodcast.com, was recently re-launched and is streaming the One Tree Hill Podcast, as its official podcast.

Nichols was introduced to the One Tree Hill fan base as Julian Baker in the eighth episode of season six last year. Nichols’ character was brought on board to cause a stir between the show’s couple Lucas Scott and Peyton Sawyer, but Julian was soon linked romantically with the Brooke Davis character.

Austin admitted he was unsure when he was asked to be brought on board the show full-time.

“I wasn’t sure what to think when One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn asked me to come on full-time,” Nichols admitted. “I didn’t know about the time commitment. But I am glad I decided to stay, I have learned so much here.”

Nichols talks about his role of Julian in the seventh season of One Tree Hill and also about working with newcomer Jana Kramer as well as Sophia Bush. He also gives a sneak peek into the short film he has been shooting with Maria Bello.

Exclusive Interview with Amanda Schull on Podcast Oct. 27

An exclusive interview with Amanda Schull, who plays Sarah the mysterious woman from Clay’s (played by Robert Buckley) past, begins airing on the One Tree Hill Podcast October 27. It is the only place One Tree Hill fans will hear exclusive commentary and insight into the Oct. 26 One Tree Hill episode, I and Love and You.

Schull’s appearance on the seventh episode of season seven will be her second appearance on One Tree Hill. She was first seen on the Oct. 19 episode. Serious regular James Lafftery, who plays Nathan Scott, directs the Oct. 26 episode.

One Tree Hill’s Mark Schwahn, also wrote I and Love and You; Schull talks a bit about being able to be in an episode penned by the creator of the show.

“I had no idea what a nice little treat I walked into, I am a very lucky girl,” Schull admitted. “He had such a vested interest in the character and the episode, and he is so accessible for everyone who works on the show. He is there for you 100 percent, he will step out of a meeting to take a call. It was a beautiful experience to have Mark as such a resource.”

The One Tree Hill Podcast will also offer a bonus interview in the episode. As Scott Avett from The Avett Brothers joins the podcast for an “Artist Alley” segment. Their song “I and Love and You” is of course the title of the episode on Oct. 26.

Robert Buckley visits the One Tree Hill Podcast September 7 in part two of the three-part segment introducing the new faces of One Tree Hill.

Buckley plays the role of Clayton, Nathan Scott’s (played by James Lafferty) sports agent. Clay must walk the narrow tightrope between being Nathan’s friend and the guy who handles his business, Buckley explained.

“After talking to One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn I was intrigued by the role of Clay,” Buckley shared. “He is really good friends with Nathan, but he also has to find a way to balance that friendship.”

Buckley continued by saying he loved the layers of Clay, and the slow revelations about him that will happen throughout the course of the season.

The One Tree Hill Podcast concludes its three-part series with Jana Kramer, who plays Alex, on September 15 as part of the One Tree Hill season seven premiere week.

The One Tree Hill Podcast begins its three-part segment, introducing the new cast members of One Tree Hill, with an exclusive interview with Shantel Van Santen, on August 31.

Van Santen plays Quinn James, the older sister of Haley James Scott, played by Bethany Joy Galeotti. Quinn returns to Tree Hill after a failed marriage and looks to put her personal and professional life on track with the help of her family.

“I think there is a point where you just need to go home to find out who you are,” Van Santen said about her character of Quinn. “She is looking for that connection and I think she is trying to find that again with her sister, Haley.”

Prior to hitting the small screen on One Tree Hill, Van Santen can be seen in the latest installment of the Final Destination franchise, The Final Destination 3-D opening on August 28. She plays Lori Milligan who escapes a deadly accident at a car race after her boyfriend persuades her and her friends to leave before the tragedy occurs. The group then tries to escape the fate of death.

“I am not a fan of horror films,” Van Santen admits. “But after taking on the role, I think it was good for me and we spent three months running around in mud and screaming. The screaming was one of the hard parts your voice would be hoarse for days.”

The One Tree Hill Podcast continues its exclusive interviews with the new One Tree Hill cast members as it welcomes Robert Buckley on September 7 and Jana Kramer on September 15.

Discusses Reprising her Role of Rachel Gatina on One Tree Hill and Co-Starring with Jennifer Lopez in “The Back-Up Plan”

The One Tree Hill Podcast will begin airing an exclusive interview with Danneel Harris Monday, July 13, as Harris is set to reprise her role as Rachel Gatina on the seventh season of the CW drama One Tree Hill.

Harris returns to One Tree Hill after over a year absence from the show. She teased that her character of Rachel’s new storyline is what drew her back to the Wilmington, N.C. area where One Tree Hill is filmed.

“Mark Schwahn always planned on Rachel coming back, leaving her storyline open,” Harris said. “When Mark told me the new storyline for Rachel, I knew I had to come back. It is a chance for me to do something completely different.”

It was the storyline that drew Harris from her very busy schedule and finds her landing in Wilmington for a handful of One Tree Hill episodes. She is currently balancing her time on One Tree Hill with completing filming of “The Back-up Plan” in which she is a guest-star opposite Jennifer Lopez and Alex O’Laughlin (who was last seen playing Mick St. John in the CBS series Moonlight).

“I play the nemesis to Jennifer Lopez and that was interesting,” Harris admits. “My first day on set, my first scene, I had to call Jennifer’s character fat. It was like hi Ms. Lopez – superstar – I am just going to call you fat.”

Prior to Harris’ return to the One Tree Hill set, she had appeared in 43 episodes. Her last appearance, prior to her return this season, came March 11 2008 in the episode “You’re Going to Need Someone on Your Side.”
