For three days a group of musicians and one television series creator converged on Nashville, Tennessee to create something special. The collaboration produced a song called “Carry You Home” and the group called themselves Nashville Skyline. The group consisted of One Tree Hill series creator Mark Schwahn, Mike Grubbs of Wakey!Wakey!, Matthew Ryan, Dallas Green and Courtney Jaye.

Schwahn wanted to create a song in hopes of using it in the season seven finale of One Tree Hill. So, he turned to Grubbs, who also plays the character of Grubbs on One Tree Hill, for assistance writing a song. The duo travelled to Nashville and Ryan’s house, spending the first day of the three-days writing the song.

“It was kind of crazy, I had never done any co-writes before,” Grubbs admits. “I got a call from Mark asking me to come to Nashville to help put this song together. There was very little notice and we headed down to Nashville. It was a fantastic experience.”

“I’m always surprised when Mark calls,” Ryan said. “He always calls with some crazy idea. It’s like the bat phone.”

After getting the lyrics set, Schwahn enlisted the vocal and instrumental talents of Grubbs, Ryan, Green and Jaye.

“This was just one of those experiences where you look in the mirror and think you are really lucky,” Grubbs said. “Basically when we got to Nashville we locked ourselves in and said what do we want to write about. It is all thanks to the genius of Mark Schwahn, we are all very good at certain specific things and everything that everyone is good at came out in the song.”

“It was fun, we drank, we ate, we wrote, we recorded and mixed it,” Ryan said. “I can’t describe that kind of energy and momentum. It’s funny how when you are pushed into a situation how things can come together. It was really cool.”

The song is available now on iTunes, both the regular and extended version. http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/carry-you-home-single/id369553323
